That PRC "biography" of Bai is tasteless, not to mention full of standard-issue Party diatribes about Taiwanese literature and packed with the typical Chinese nationalist jingoism that passes for "history" in that country.
Is he really a Buddhist and a convert from Islam to Buddhism, as the categories suggest? The text of the article just says that he embraced some Buddhist meditation practices in the West, which is not the same thing as becoming a full-fledged adherent of the religion.
