The last section about trends in fares seems to be original synthesis from published sources (transit agency sites). Is there any documentation on this synthesis? Chedder41 (talk) 05:37, 28 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I added info on the NYC subway system. Anyone have any thoughts about this? It'd be nifty to have an entry w/ fares from major cities around the world.

The comment about fareboxes first accepting dollar bills in 1984 is incorrect (I have worked for GFI Genfare since 1983, and worked for Duncan Industries, a predecessor of GFI's from 1978 to 1983). Duncan was making dollar bill accepting fareboxes in the mid '70's. GFI started designing the Cents-a-bill farebox in 1980, and had many of them in service by the time I joined the company in 1983. Information on GFI Genfare, and a brief history of fareboxes can be found at: http://gfigenfare.com/index.html —Preceding unsigned comment added by CSkeggs (talkcontribs) 20:28, 4 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
