Stanley Gold Quote

[edit]

Hi Bink: If I'm doing this right, I believe you're the one who rejected my suggestion to delete the Stanley Gold quote from the Wikipedia article on Jeffrey Katzenberg. You cited that "the two things exist simultaneously. Katzenberg is hard to work with, and he makes money." This may be true, but the inclusion of the Gold quote only asserts one of those two truths. If Wikipedia feels the need to include the Gold quote, it seems it should also include Newsweek's Haverty quote or something like it. But, rather than strive for some kind of "balance," it seems to me a better choice to just lose the Gold quote, especially since, unlike Haverty, Gold was not any sort of neutral source. At the time, he was a Disney board member and close Eisner ally. On the other side, Katzenberg had his champions, including Steven Spielberg and David Geffen, who spoke just as strongly about Katzenberg's virtues. Furthermore, Gold's quote seems somewhat contradicted by the next sentence about Katzenberg winning a quarter-billion dollar settlement, which would seem to indicate he wasn't all about ego, but achieved results. Otherwise, per the Wikipedia article, the facts of Katzenberg's tenure at Disney Studios speak for themselves. Hope this makes sense, Dan Danlwolf (talk) 22:07, 26 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
